Thanks to hanging out with a photography mate and his Sony, I have developed a fond love of photographing cities at night and especially combining Street Photography with Night Photography.  The best time in the city is after rain.  When the puddles are on the ground providing interesting reflections and wet pavements. Things look so much nicer after the rain.

We often start off before sunset, pick a spot to capture the sunset, then wait for the lights to come on.  After that it’s shooting whatever we see in an area, often walking for kilometres.  Then comes dinner which is always nice.  And back to the streets to capture people, lighting, buildings, architecture.  I am drawn to pretty window fronts with bling and beautiful colourful lighting.  Sometimes we come across interesting characters who are drunk and want to be photographed or people having punch ups outside Hungry Jacks in the Mall.

I might take my Canon R5 and a Zoom lens, sometimes the R5 and a fixed lens like my f1.8mm RF 50mm lens for a challenge, and sometimes just my trusty iphone to remain low key and travel light. It does a pretty good job of low light photography and is easy to carry.  Some of my shots are below:
