Exploring Brisbane City by Day

Had a fun time out recently in the city photographing the buildings, both above ground from a great height, and down below in the underground water storage tanks.  These tanks used to house all of Brisbane’s water supply.  They were built in 1871 and were gravity fed from Enogerra Dam until being decommissioned in 1962.   It’s the second time I had been down there with my trusty camera but the first time my husband had seen that underground side of Brisbane, despite us having lived here for over 20 years now.  There was a long line up to get in but it was worth it to spend some time down there. I had flashbacks seeing social distancing footprint stickers in the tunnels.  It’s a flashback to sad times when that was in place and we were all afraid of each other or breaking the rules by being centimetres too close to each other.

Usually, I love photographing Brisbane at night, but it was still an interesting place during the day.  I love the Star Casino building prescient and always walk out onto the glass section at the top just because I can, and I’m not afraid of heights.  Doesn’t faze me at all which is handy.
