PORTRAIT SESSION INFORMATION:
At Purdie Photography, things are done differently. Instead of being locked into a print package where you
have to spend hundreds of dollars, when you hire me to take your family portraits, I give you the disk of images afterwards with
printing instructions and written copyright permission. *
I understand that many people these days are creative and quite capable of getting prints made.
Once you have the disk, you are free to pore over the photos for as long as it takes to make your choice.
You might want to get a big canvas done, or simply email the photos overseas, upload them to Face book or perhaps you are just
looking for some prints that you can do scrap booking at home with or make your own photo book for your coffee table.
If you require help, I can take your photo choices and make prints, enlargements canvases or photo gifts for you at a
reasonable cost.*
* Photos with copyright permission may be uploaded to Facebook for your friends to see, with a credit to myself as the photographer,
but not uploaded to Flickr due to their creative commons licences. Thanks.

CLOTHING:
When choosing what to wear for your photo session, please keep in mind that certain colours and styles of clothing look better in photographs than others.
White or black t-
an earthy outdoor shoot. Try to avoid sleeveless tops.
For girls and women, white skirts that are long and 'floaty' look feminine when
walking or running along the beach, however for men and boys, denim is more suitable.
Trendy clothing with writing on it can date quickly so stick to plain solid colours and make sure all the people being photographed have colours that go well
together (colour coordinated).
Feel free to bring a change of clothes so you have options.
Try to stay away from spots, stripes and bold patterns as they can lead the eye
away from the main subject and be overpowering.
If you would like an indoor studio pregnancy shoot, make sure you aren't wearing tight pants that can leave marks on your tummy.
Children should be well rested and not hungry so feed them up before the session, and feel free to bring along any props such as family pets, baby baskets,
Musical instruments, soft toys or balls.
Both studio and outdoor sessions last about 1 -
a 1/2 hours and produce approx 60+ photos depending on the number of people involved.

Free airbrushing / photo retouching if required
Free montages / triptychs of your portrait session will also be included on the disk.
These can be printed as one image or make great canvases to hang. Samples:
LOCATIONS:
One of my favourite locations for a bush portrait setting, is in Fellmonger Park, Ormiston. Car parking is nearby and there's a pond with ducks and geese, lovely trees, open grassy areas and a swing bridge. It’s a little bit out of the way and less exposed than other places.
Wellington Point Reserve is another popular spot. Dogs are allowed there during weekdays if you want to bring along the family pooch.
There's large fig trees which provide nice shade at all times of the day. There's also the sandy beach, ocean water and King Island for a backdrop, the playground, lovely big stones to sit on, grass to lie on, and the wharf provides a good prop to work with either as a backdrop or to walk on or under. There's also the cafe which can provide an urban city look to your photos.
For a completely different look, consider a favourite area that you feel illustrates your personality. It might be a marina, cafe setting, railway station, alleyway, city street scene, abandoned area, shopping centre after hours, at your home etc.
