Biography

I’ve been taking photographs since the mid 1970's and began on an old box brownie like many photographers. I really got into it in a serious way when I went Digital in 2003.

Since 1994 I've had hundreds of photographs published in magazines and newspapers, sometimes accompanying my articles - link to my writing site, or as stand alone images, including some on front covers of magazines and publications. (See list below).

I have also sold many images as photo cards, prints and hundreds of stock images with the stock libraries I regularly submit to.

I love working with software programmes trying new techniques to enhance my photos or turn an image into something completely different.

I enjoy photographing people, especially at weddings or portrait sessions, nature and the outdoors, street photography, in the Outback, and have discovered the addictiveness of photographing cities at night with long exposure techniques.

I have had many acceptances, merits, highly commended placings, firsts, seconds and Champion Digital Image placings in various local, Australia wide and International competitions and exhibitions since 2005 including trophies, plaques, medals, ribbons, books and prizes. In 2011 I gained my AAPS with the Australian Photographic Society and have achieved my AFIAP entering Internationals which will become official in 2012.

I supply images for the front covers of Footprints Magazine for women that is published 4 times a year, and did a lot of front covers and other images for the Bayside Weekly newspaper published in the Redlands, before it closed down.

I have done commercial jobs for businesses such as Redlands City Council, Blue Care, Kybro Construction, Baycoast COC, Empower Church Redlands, Auto Pro, Nasson, Redlands Realty, Nurse Response, Hip Interiors, River City Tiles, RFS Finance, Certified Roofing, Vision Psychology, Euro Aus, Le-Lujah Fashion Design, Wear n Him, and Vid Pic Promotions.

I was a guest speaker at the 2007 Alpha 2 Omega Literary and Dramatic Arts Festival in Brisbane where gave a 2 hour speech on how writing and photography go hand in hand.

I belong to a Camera Club and thrive on the competitions and friendship with like minded people who are as passionate about photography as I am. I photograph visiting speakers and outings for the club newsletter, am the editor of the club newsletter, teach workshops, assist club members, and give speeches when invited.

Since 2009, I'm the webmaster of the Photography Society of Queensland's web site, and I joined the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers as a Full Accredited Member.

I’m also branching out into Fusion Photography which is combining small snippets of video with still images and making slide show presentations. (Samples:)

I enjoy working with people, taking their photos, getting them to laugh, and making it a fun time, whether we're in the bush or on the beach or somewhere in between, and especially on a couple’s wedding day.
